Block sound type
A block sound type is a set of sounds that blocks use when they are broken, placed, hit, fallen on, stepped on, jumped from,‌[Bedrock Edition only] or landed on.‌[Bedrock Edition only]
If a player is stepping on carpet, crimson or warped roots, moss carpet, Nether sprouts, or snow (blocks in the combination_step_sound_blocks block tag) then the step sound of the block underneath plays at 1⁄3 of the volume and 4⁄5 of the pitch.‌[Java Edition only]
Horses and variations of horses use the volumes and pitches of blocks they are standing on to determine how certain sounds are made.
