The old zombie villager is a removed or unobtainable variant of the zombie that behaves similar to modern zombie villagers, but can be cured into old villagers.
When a group in the normal spawn cycle spawns zombies, there is a 5% chance to instead spawn a group of zombie villagers‌[Pocket Edition only], or a single zombie villager‌[Java Edition only]. (This increases to a 20% chance in old growth taiga biomes)‌[Java Edition only]
