The Builder Cape is a cape that is given out as a promotion for TwitchCon 2026 and the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge.

Appearance

The cape's design depicts an iron pickaxe laying on a crafting table background. Apart from the pickaxe's orientation, it has the same design as the Crafter Cape.

Distribution

Players can receive this cape by redeeming a code, which can be obtained by participating on one of these two platforms:

Watch any livestream on Twitch for 5 minutes.
Watch any livestream on TikTok for 3 minutes.

This can be done between May 30 and June 14 (later June 22nd), 2026. All codes for this cape must be redeemed by June 30, 2026.^[1]

This task could not be completed normally in regions where the streaming platforms or their rewards programs were unavailable. Players in these regions could obtain the cape by using a proxy/VPN, traveling to regions where they were available, or receiving a code from another player.

History

April 21, 2026							The Crafter Cape and the Builder Cape have been announced.^[2]
May 18, 2026							The name "Builder Cape" is revealed on the Microsoft Store.^[3]^{[note 1]}
May 30, 2026							The cape promotion period begins.
May 31, 2026							18 hours after the campaign started, around 10am PDT, Twitch runs out of available codes for the cape, making them no longer obtainable via Twitch "in accordance to their promotional partner".^[4]
June 3, 2026							Twitch restocks the cape codes, making them obtainable once again, and extends its deadline until June 22nd.
June 14, 2026							The promotion period ends, and new codes can no longer be obtained.^[verify]
June 22, 2026							Twitch Drop code distribution concludes around this date.
June 30, 2026							Distribution of the cape concludes around this date.

Trivia

The cape's design resembles the teaser poster for A Minecraft Movie Squared.
Aside from the cape's name, further connections to the build challenge include the fact that the cape was also featured in the build challenge's key art, and that the cape's distribution method was revealed in the article that introduced the build challenge.^[1] However, participation in the challenge was not actually required to obtain the cape.
After Minecraft Live, various players had trouble claiming the cape through Twitch due to technical reasons.^[5]
Despite saying that the cape code must be redeemed by June 30th, already existing cape codes can still be redeemed.

Despite being unlocked for most at the start, code redemption did not work for many users, showing this error. Drops could still be unlocked in the inventory even after codes ran out.
Support email confirming when the codes ran out.
Disclaimer added on top of Twitch support page due to influx of support tickets, stating that codes ran out and could not be restocked by Twitch at that time due to their original agreement with Mojang.
