Glowstone Blob

Crimson Forest Warped Forest Soul Sand Valley Basalt Deltas

A glowstone blob is a feature composed of glowstone that generates on the underside of terrain blocks in the Nether.

A glowstone blob consists of various tendrils of glowstone that extend outward from a central clump. Glowstone blobs serve as the main source of glowstone, which is a light-emitting block that can be used to charge respawn anchors. Mining glowstone without Silk Touch drops 2-4 glowstone dust, which can then be crafted into a glowstone block.

Description

A glowstone blob consists of various tendrils of glowstone that extend outward from a central clump. Glowstone blobs serve as the main source of glowstone, which is a light-emitting block that can be used to charge respawn anchors. Mining glowstone without Silk Touch drops 2-4 glowstone dust, which can then be crafted into a glowstone block.

Generation

Glowstone blobs form in coral-like structures on the underside of hanging netherrack or basalt, found on the ceilings of the Nether including low-ceiling spaces such as caves or canyons. They cannot generate on any block other than netherrack or basalt. These blobs can intersect Nether fortresses and other structures during generation. Glowstone blobs vary massively in size, ranging from a dozen blocks to over fifty.

Glowstone blobs can be found in every Nether biome, although they are significantly rarer in soul sand valleys[1], because the ceiling in this biome consists of soul sand and soul soil.
