Legacy Frozen Ocean

The legacy frozen ocean is an unused frozen variant of oceans. It can only be obtained through single biome or add-ons.

The legacy frozen ocean variant is similar to frozen ocean biomes, but without icebergs, making it look like flatlands of ice. Like in frozen oceans, snowy rabbits, polar bears and strays spawn here.

No monsters other than drowned, strays, and skeletons can spawn here at night. This biome also generates kelp on a gravel floor, as well as seagrass which is unlike regular frozen oceans. Land generated in legacy frozen oceans does not have any terrain blocks and generates with the default stone, gravel, dirt, and variant blocks, covered with snow and occasionally some default vegetation like short grass.

For the old unused frozen ocean variant in Java Edition that has been merged with new frozen oceans, see Frozen Ocean § History.
This article describes content that has been officially made unobtainable in Bedrock Edition.

It can still be obtained using third-party software. However, this can cause unexpected behavior such as bugs and crashes.

Description

Unlike in other oceans, shipwrecks and ocean ruins do not generate here.

With Vibrant Visuals, legacy frozen oceans use default atmospherics with a strong cold color grading, making the biome appear icy blue. They have cold sunlight, which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
